Accessing and Navigating the PatchPost Portal

PatchPost provides a web portal for easily managing your projects and patch notes. To get started, open the portal in your browser and log in with your Discord account.

Logging into PatchPost

  1. 1

    Open the PatchPost Portal

Navigate to the PatchPost web portal (for example, patchpost.crypticredhat.com) using your web browser. You should see a welcome or login screen.

  2. 2

    Log In with Discord

Click the Login with Discord button. This will redirect you to Discord’s OAuth2 authorization page. Select the Discord account you want to use and authorize the PatchPost application. This step allows PatchPost to identify your Discord user and see which servers you manage.

  3. 3

    Return to the Portal

After approving the Discord authorization, you will be sent back to the PatchPost portal. You should now be logged in. Your Discord username or avatar may appear on the site, confirming that your login was successful.

Once logged in, you’ll land on the PatchPost dashboard. The portal’s interface is designed to be clear and user-friendly. Here are the key areas to note:

  • Server/Community Selection: If you manage multiple Discord servers with PatchPost enabled, you may have an option to select which server’s data to view. Choose the server (community) you want to manage. If you have only one server using PatchPost, the portal will default to that one.
  • Projects Section: The main area of the dashboard lists your projects (games or mods) associated with the selected server. If this is your first time here, you might not have any projects yet — you'll create one soon. Each project represents a game or topic for which you will publish changelogs.
  • Navigation Menu: Look for a sidebar or top navigation menu with sections like Projects, Changelogs, or Settings. This menu lets you switch between different parts of the portal. For example, click Projects to manage your projects, or Changelogs to view and create changelog posts.
  • User Menu: There may be an account menu (often represented by your Discord username or avatar) where you can manage profile settings or log out of the portal.

Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the layout. You might see a New Project button or an overview of recent changelogs (if any exist) on the dashboard. Don't worry if it's empty for now — you'll populate it as you proceed.

Now that you're comfortable with the PatchPost portal and its layout, you're ready to add the PatchPost bot to your Discord server and start creating content. Continue to Installing the PatchPost Bot on Your Discord Server.
